| All news items. Only the latest 3 are shown on the front page.Spin-off projects uploaded Fri, 20 Dec 2008 19:40:00 GMT I promised I'd upload these a long time ago, and I finally got round to it. Take a look at "Spin off dev." in the menu to download all the objects JAM uses. This means you can finally see (and change) all the code for JAM, and use the objects on their own to enhance your programs without the bulk of JAM. Version 1.0.10 released Tue, 23 Sep 2008 18:20:00 GMT An update? 'bout time! Ok so it's been a while since I did anything here, but this update.. it's BIG. Check out the Features History page to see what's new, or take a look at the (new!) changelog.txt file in the download. IMPORTANT NOTE! This will break pretty much any project, since a lot of important parts have been changed (backgrounds, path movements, fades). The readme file explains how to fix most of that, and the changelog should help with the rest. I'll get to updating the documentation... some time. No promises this time since I always break them. Also it'll probably be a while until the next release again. Version 1.0.8 released Sun, 1 Apr 2007 17:30:00 GMT No, this isn't an april fools joke, I actually have finished version 1.0.8 at last. This version fixes a lot of bugs from previous releases, adds more features and objects and is generally much better. Hopefully it was worth the wait ;) It can be downloaded now from the downloads page.
(btw, I know that collision detection is still bad. Like I said in the last news item, I'll be fixing it up properly for 1.0.10)
Update: I've also updated the downloadable help to be at the same level as the online help, but remember that the online help is updated more often. Collision detection Thu, 22 Mar 2007 20:10:00 GMT *FINALLY* I have managed to get the collision detection fully seperate. It's still not finished (fine detection and normal angles of rotated objects still aren't implimented) but it's finally a seperate 3DD which can be worked on completley independantly. Since the collision detection is now back up to the 1.0.6 stage (after being restarted from scratch) I've decided to leave it as-is for now and do the final parts for 1.0.10. This will help to get 1.0.8 out faster.
There are still a few minor bugs to fix and I'm trying to get a scrollbar object made before the release, but it shouldn't be long now.
Also, you may have noticed that the online documentation has had a big push lately - it's now over 50% complete and shows non-finished pages greyed out. On the bad side, the remaining 47% is all object and movement functions, which are really quite important. It's getting there though. Looks a bit different... Tue, 24 Oct 2006 22:30:00 GMT You might notice that this page looks a bit different now. That's because I've done a behind-the-scenes re-haul of the site, and I can now put progress reports anywhere. So I decided to put one on the front page. You'll also find that the screenshots page has been re-done, with a nice fade thingie and some more picks, and...
The online documentation is FINALLY UP! The online version is likely to stay ahead of the downloadable stuff now, since it's easier to update. I've added quite a few more pages, but there are still hundreds to go... Btw, my excuse for the long delay since the last news is that I've been playing around with installing Ubuntu Linux :P Version 1.0.6 released Wed, 9 Aug 2006 18:00:00 GMT And it's done. This version has a lot of new features (including bulk-networking, the webCam object (actually called Object_Camera), the Set and IsPointIn functions for actives, and more) and tidies the code a fair bit. Also, this version has a new file structure; the main download now contains the movement, network and tech demos, and the extras download contains all the other demos (including a new EyeToy demo) A documentation update will follow in a week or so. Of course, it's so simple! Wed, 26 Jul 2006 19:00:00 GMT In a spectacular show of "why didn't I think of that before?!" I've now managed to tidy one of the more messy areas of JAM. Simply put, I can now exchange a couple of thousand lines of code for a couple of hundred, and 3rd party extensions will be much easier to make.
This means A) I will be able to work on JAM faster now, and without getting such a headache :P B) 3rd party extensions won't be such hell to create, and C) JAM will probably be a little bit faster :) Just thought I should mention it :) Version 1.0.4 released Sun, 18 Jun 2006 12:30:00 GMT Ok, 1.0.4 is now ready. It has a few new features (i.e. counters to n decimal places) but most of the changes in this release are behind the scenes. The templates have been tidied up some more, lots of features have been split into seperate objects, variables have been renamed, and there are a few bug fixes. I've also (finally) updated the documentation. All the default objects (appart from the MouseKeyboard object) are now complete. Once the MouseKeyboard object is done, I'll start on the generic functions of objects. This version has been fully tested, so there shouldn't be a repeat of version 1.0.2s problems. Version 1.0.3 (fix) released Sun, 7 May 2006 21:15:00 GMT A note to everyone: When you make a change, no matter how trivial it should be, ALWAYS check it :S I didn't, and Version 1.0.2 had a major batch of bugs that made it unusable. This version will work. Note that this will not be mirrored, as it is technically a development version. I don't know how I managed to miss this bug for so long (it causes the example to crash when run) but at least it's fixed now :) Well, partially done anyway Mon, 1 May 2006 13:40:00 GMT I've uploaded a new version of the help. This version has an (almost) complete TOC, but is still missing *a lot* of pages. The PHP-based editor I made turned out to have a serious bug which makes it mainly unusable, so it's not available online yet. After listing out all the pages in the TOC, I am amazed at how much there is. It's going to take *forever* to work through all those pages. :( Documentation Wed, 19 Apr 2006 17:45:00 GMT Right, I've decided that my aim to half-finish it in a week was a bit much. I was expecting a new PHP-based editor I made to speed up making the files, but it seems that it isn't as fast as I had thought. On the plus side, it means that the online documentation can be compiled with the click of a button now, so the next time I update the documentation, I'll make it available online too. It will be soon, but I just can't seem to get the energy for writing documentation. Sorry :( Version 1.0.2 released Mon, 17 Apr 2006 14:20:00 GMT finally, an update :) I'm now going to work on the documentation and aim to get it half finished over the next week. (Fingers crossed :P ) Help! Mon, 6 Mar 2006 15:00:00 GMT Any help with collision detection please (see the forum) Delay Wed, 15 Jan 2006 17:30:00 GMT I've done a bit more work on the site, and JAM has a few new features (but not released yet, see the Features History and Screenshots pages) The editor is looking very incomplete, but I'm aiming to make it completley keyboard accessable and easily customisable. Can't show any screenshots yet, sorry.
The toolbar object I mentioned before has made limited progress, and is showing a few graphical glitches. Once I've got these ironed out, I'll be releasing a semi-beta version. Screenshots Fri, 11 Nov 2005 17:15:00 GMT Just a little thing; I've added a screenshots section to the site. I'll try to keep it up to date with the latest versions, but I can't guarantee it.
Currently, I have stopped working on JAM itself; I'll come back to it later. I am now working on a 3DD to make toolbars in Jamagic, so that I can use it in the editor. I will, of course, release the finished object for anyone to use. Version 1.00 Released Tue, 8 Nov 2005 17:00:00 GMT Woo! Version 1.00 is finally done! I have now ironed out all but the strangest bugs, added most of the default features, made a lot of the help files, and made this web site :D Take a look at the Downloads section to download the 3dd and more. I'm gonn'a have a bit of a rest now, but I'll start work on the editor soon... Website Launched Tue, 8 Nov 2005 17:00:00 GMT JAM's finally got it's own part of the web, and isn't filling up clickteam's boards. So far there's a simple forum, and an rss feed here | | | | |
